Due to current impact of the winter storm, all Spencer County Schools, Tiger Cub Village, and our Central Office will be closed tomorrow, January 6, 2025. As a reminder, tomorrow was already designated as a District Professional Development Day for staff, so no classes were scheduled for students. We will continue to monitor the storm’s impact, including potential power outages, and will make a decision regarding school for Tuesday, January 7, 2025, as soon as possible.

𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞: District administrators are closely monitoring the potential for winter weather Sunday through Monday. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority when making decisions regarding school closures. Below are the possible options we may consider in the event of winter weather: • 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐃𝐚𝐲: School is closed, and no instruction takes place. • 𝐍𝐨𝐧-𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐍𝐓𝐈) 𝐃𝐚𝐲: Students participate in learning remotely from home. • 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭: School start times are adjusted to allow roads to improve. https://bit.ly/24-25NTIPlan Now is an excellent time to review our NTI plan and ensure students have the resources they need to participate successfully in remote learning. Families are also encouraged to have an alternative plan in place for childcare in the event school is closed. Spencer County Middle School students are 6th Grade Showcase Overall CHAMPIONS!! Took home medals in math, science, social studies, arts & humanities and writing composition! The kids put in the work and their hard work paid off!!

KG and Emma were Principal and Assistant Principal for the day! We got to see some pretty awesome lessons today! Shark Tank, Dystopian society presentations, science lab, advanced art party, and Santa and Nana came to visit!

Winter Break Dates.

Last week our 8th grade class from SCMS, as well as a small group of 9th grade students from SCHS, visited the Shelby County Area Technology Center (ATC) to learn more about the school’s career pathways opportunities. These high-demand pathways include areas such as pre-nursing and dental, welding, machine tool, industrial maintenance, automotive and diesel technology, business and information technology (IT). Mark Your Calendar! If you and your student are interested in learning more, make plans to attend the Shelby County ATC’s Open House on January 16, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Beta Club is sending out candy/ croc charm grams this week!

Our student leadership team canned food drive is still taking items! Also, Here are the Holiday themes for next week dress up days!

On Saturday, SCMS dance competed against some tough teams and got 2nd place out of 5 in pom and 3rd place out of 6 in hip hop. Sunday, we got 1st place out of two in both routines, best of pom award, and lots of individual dancer awards! Not to mention Spencer County Dance as a whole swept the competition today! Go Grizzlies 💙🐻

Winterfest is this Friday, December 6th!To kick off the week we have our first ever House Penny Wars! Pennies and bills add to your house totals. Silver coins subtract from House totals.
