Spencer County Middle School

We celebrated a lot this week! Students who grew the most on their winter MAP test or got the highest MAP scores got an ice cream sundae (lack of pictures due to photographers hand scooping ice cream 🤭 Valentines Day dress up spirit days, staff celebrity crush game winner, House meetings, and new student House placement! Work hard, play hard!

Student Leadership Team members delivered Valentine cards to Signature Healthcare today. Cards were made by students & staff from Spencer County Middle School! We hope we made their day as special as they made ours💗

SCMS dance team (plus elementary and high school) has a Dance Showcase this Saturday! All the girls are headed to state in 2 weeks, let’s send them off with a great crowd!

For the first time in SCMS cheer history the middle school squad competed at the UCA national competition in Orlando, Florida. They placed 9th out of 13 in their division. Led by coaches Kim Burch and Kelly Key, this program has shown mazing growth over the last 4 years! Congrats to all the cheerleaders this season for an amazing job well done!

Spencer County Community, Due to forecasted inclement weather tomorrow during the early morning commute and through the afternoon, Spencer County Schools will utilize NTI Day #6 on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025. An independent decision will be made regarding Tiger Cub Village, and they will communicate with their parents accordingly. Stay safe and have a great day!

Valentine's Day spirit week!

Spencer County Community; Due to a significant increase in illness affecting both our students and staff, Spencer County Schools will implement Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Days on February 4th and 5th, 2025. TigerCub Village will be CLOSED as well. Students should follow the NTI expectations that have communicated by their teachers and school. Staff will be available during the school day to provide support as needed. We look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as humanly possible. It's school counselor week and we can't wait to celebrate Ms. Dunaway! She's always thinking of others and helping anyone who needs it! Thank you for all you do everyday! We couldn't do it without the help of our mental health support team: Ms. Tammy, Ms. Ashley, Ms. Amy, Ms. Kaycie and Ms. Lauren! And our FRYSC coordinator, Ms. Stephanie!

The 100th day of school is Thursday, Jan 30th. We are celebrating by having a school wide Bingo game! First 10 winners of each grade level will recieve a PBIS coupon to the Grizzly store!

These girls are State bound! We took home 1st in pom and 2nd in hip hop at regionals today! Now we’ve got 3 weeks to prepare for State and we’re ready! 💙🐻

After consulting with the National Weather Service and considering the potential for hazardous weather conditions, including a Cold Weather Advisory for temperatures in the single digits below zero, and the risk of unsafe conditions in subzero temperatures 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 will implement 𝐍𝐓𝐈 𝐃𝐚𝐲 #𝟑 on 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓. This decision is made to prioritize the safety of our students and staff. 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐛 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 will remain 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation! Stay safe and warm!

They did it again! First place in hip hop and pom, best of the junior division, best of pom, and best musicality! So proud of these girls and can’t wait to take on regionals next weekend! 💙🐻

Our academic team took home 2nd place overall in district Governor’s Cup. SCMS students had one medal in math, 3 in science, 2 in social studies, 1 in language arts, 1 in arts & humanities, 3 in written composition. And the team took home 1st place 🥇 in Future Problem Solving! 13 of our students will be moving on to the regional competition in February!

Our students worked hard to compete in the Beta state competition in several different categories. Our onsite competitions included: Song fest-Haylee Glenn Speech- Kailee Pollock Cake decorating-Abby Limpp Robotics competition: Chloe Currin, Simar Dhaliwal, Titus Sjostrand, and Christian Travis Individual activities included: Black and white photo- Landon Flowers Color photography- Haylee Goodlett drawing- Jocelyn Hasken mixed media- Chloe Currin Quilling - Gurnoor Dhaliwal Recyclable art- Bradan Flowers 2-D design group effort-Flowers and Goodlett Christian Travis placed fifth overall and will be going to the national convention for 8th Grade Science! Thanks Mrs. Jewell for sponsoring Beta club and giving our students a great opportunity!

𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 will operate on a 𝐭𝐰𝐨-𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 tomorrow, 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟑𝐭𝐡. 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐛 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 will be 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 on a normal schedule. After assessing bus routes today, we found that while our majority of our roads are in excellent condition, several challenges remain, including low-hanging tree limbs and multiple parked cars in cul-de-sacs and turnarounds. To ensure the safety of our students and drivers, we believe it would be beneficial for drivers to complete their routes after daylight hours. With the expected sunshine tomorrow, we anticipate more melting to occur, further improving turnaround conditions. We kindly ask that, if possible, keep cul-de-sacs clear of cars to help our buses navigate turnarounds safely. Thank you for your understanding!
